Officer Responsibilities

Executive Board:

President: Responsible for leading the Executive Board and the group of Officers to set goals for the year and follow through by delegating work and projects to the officer positions. Involves representing UConn SWE on a national scale and handling all external operations of SWE including trips to the WE National Conference. Teaches the 1-credit ENGR 3025 course.

 

Vice President: Takes on any work and responsibilities passed down from the President including planning meetings and events. They also are primarily in charge of all internal affairs of the organizations, and should supervise the overall activities of the officers and members. Responsible for planning Multiply Your Options (MYO) in conjunction with VII.

 

Secretary: Responsible for communicating with the organization via biweekly newsletter. Maintain records, meeting minutes, and contacts list. Works closely with all officers, particularly the digital media officer, to keep an updated list of upcoming events and opportunities.

 

Treasurer: Primarily responsible for the organization’s finances through the SABS account and the College of Engineering Foundation account. Creates a banking contract every fiscal year, submits budgets and funding requests to USG as necessary, and oversees fundraising activities.

 

Directors/Officers:

Professional Director: Responsible for creating events and resources focused on professional development in the organization. Oversees the professional development team, creates Corporate Sponsorship Packet, organizes one meeting per semester to help members network or prepare for internships/jobs.

Company Relations Officer: Responsible for maintaining existing or developing new relationships with companies. Includes keeping in contact with recruiters for events, setting up company visits in General Body or events on campus and relaying the information back to the Professional Director. 

Technical Officer: Develops and leads technical workshops for members to gain certifications and skills. Facilitates networking opportunities with graduate students, professors, and professionals, offering insights into industry expectations.

Analytics & Retention Officer: Maintains and updates member attendance and service hour records in UConntact. Manages records and organizes data for presentation to companies.

Special Programs Director: Responsible for the overseeing Special Programs Team. Initiates and manages social events to increase engagement and belonging within SWE. Plans senior send-off!

New Member Officers (2): Responsible for planning, recruiting, and running the New Member Meetings. Hosts biweekly meetings to provide new members with mentors and to help them adjust to a large organization. 

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer: Coordinates workshops to promote DEI within SWE by collaborating with different organizations within VII. Ensures that all members feel a sense of belonging in SWE.

Outreach Officer: Responsible for finding and creating opportunities for outreach as well as recruiting volunteers. Plans one meeting per semester and leads events including:

  • EO Smith Outreach
  • Pre-Engineering Program (PEP)
  • Hartford Girls Project
  • Women in Engineering Day

    Digital Media Officer: Responsible for UConn SWE's social media presence. Maintains Instagram, LinkedIn, and website to communicate upcoming events and information with members. 

    MYO Officers (3): Responsible for planning and executing MYO in collaboration with the Vice President and VII. Plans workshop demos, finds keynote speaker, and recruits/trains volunteers.
